DIY Lazy Susan

HI there! I have received some questions from multiple people about a lazy susan, and I want to share just how easy it can be to make your own (without a drill!) or you may purchase one from me!

All supplies were purchased at Home Depot!

Lazy Susan $4.48
1″ x 17 3/4″ Pine Round $6.92
Fine Grit Sandpaper
Ruler
(4) 1/2″ Screws
Phillips Head Screwdriver
Adhesive Grips
Mineral Oil or Stain (color of your choice)
Paintbrush

First, sand! I suggest sanding with 150 then 220 but anything fine will work.

Next, attaching the hardware! Make sure your Lazy Susan spins well; if you want it to spin really fast, grease the ball bearings.

Use your ruler to center the Lazy Susan, you don’t want it leaning, we don’t want a crazy Suzanne.

Apply pressure to your Phillips Head Screwdriver when driving in the 1/2″ Screws.

Now let’s talk finishes!

Mineral oil is great if you want to keep the wood natural and preserved. It’s also great if you plan to use it as a serving tray; mineral oil is food safe. Not to get ahead of myself, but woodburning is also food safe.

I applied mineral oil on the bottom to show you how it tints the pine.

The bottom needs adhesive grips! Oh no, I forgot those at the store! It still spins for me, I’ll pick some up next time. You know, the little circle rubble stickers, they’re clear or black. 😉

For my top, I have chosen to freehand a design on by woodburning some classic looking branches. Enjoy the timelapse video:

I am also selling these woodburned on my website if you love it as much as I do. A few finish options are available. www.CompletelyDevotedDesigns.com/shop

I went with a light stain color: Golden Pecan. My table is slightly darker so it accents well, I also have a dark stain (Honey & Black Walnut) accentuating my whole house on the stairs and framing.

I love it! It’s the perfect centerpiece. My mother-in-law made hers with a natural finish (no stain).

Valentines (or Anti-Valentines)

Valentines Day, Galentines Day, Anti-Valentines Day (because we’re all reminded of it) here are some great gifts for a loved one, your kiddo, or yourself! These are a few designs I have available right now ready to ship

I love all my minis (5 1/2″)! They are great decor whether by itself, on a mini easel (you can request stained or painted), or you can even request a frame! They make for great gifts, especially in place of a card, these will last a lifetime (keep out of direct sunlight!)
These Converse chuck minis “You’re my sole-mate” can be painted any color!

“Still the best damn decision I ever made” HANDLETTERED is customizable with ANY date (the day you started dating, the day you said yes and got engaged, wedding anniversary)
I love this one and would suggest a stained frame (mini easel also available)

Here is a not-so-typical “Roses are red, Violets are blue”….because…. “all of my naughty thoughts involved you” HANDLETTERED, great on a mini easel and in-place-of a card

Here are my Star Wars designs, just classic, can’t go wrong with Star Wars, am I right?!
*.*.*Star filled galaxy*.*.*
With my husband a couple years ago on May the fourth we painted at Painting with a Twist lightsabers with “I love you I know”; did you know in the movies they each say that both ways to each other? <3
Even for the KIDS! I really don’t care to say I love you to the moon and back, because it’s so cliche’ and I love my kids so much more, but the Death Star, yeah, c’mon!
ONLY ONE OF EACH IS LEFT, I cannot wait to see customer pictures of the ones that have already sold (I stained the stand, makes the star pop) on one I did a custom saying on the back

This beauty is ONE OF A KIND RTS with solawood flowers, great on a mantel, piano, wall shelf, bookshelf, you name it!

MAGNETS!!! I have ONE OF EACH RTS! Although “MEH”, “WHATEVER”, and “LOVE YOU” are gone. I think “THIS IS US” is my favorite one, and the minty colored one that says “MY LOVE”; in Frasier, that’s what Niles calls Daphne <3

The Beginning!

So these were a few fun items that I had first made for the site!

I thought it would be fun to make this succulent mini reversible! Both designs were hand-drawn and then woodburned on reclaimed wood: both are a tantamount of Echeveria, one side has a stained terracotta pot, and the other side has a gray-wash concrete planter. This little cutie went to it’s forever home with a mini wooden easel.

Here is a hand-drawn, hand-painted, woodburned Blue Rose with Kelly green leaves using acrylic paint. I love this one because it was referenced from my garden, a Lincoln Rose. I later woodburned another one, using watercolor I painted it pink, with a stippled background.

This next piece is near and dear to my heart, one-of-a-kind. The design was originally hand-drawn by my tattoo artist, and let me tell you, chrysanthemums are no joke! A big and beautiful flower, full of detail. It actually started out as a conversation about butterflies because we were talking about transformation and change. This art piece is loved and cherished by another small shop owner.

Butterflies & Chrysanthemums is a OOAK piece and will not be made again. Many hours went into the woodburning of this beautiful wood plaque, just look at the bark edges on it!

I also put a couple hours into designing this beauty! I just absolutely love cherry blossoms! Framed, hand-lettered, hand-drawn, and hand-painted with acrylic! I decided to keep this one and hang it in my kitchen.

The second to last item I designed was a dog leash holder that features “LOVE” with a paw print. I also offered a customizable one with a large paw print and dog name, featuring a small hook as well. The best way to get these cuties to hang on your wall would be some Command Strips!

Lastly, I thought these would make great gifts for any kitchen, or even for guys (I know we struggle to find gifts for the men in our lives but you can’t go wrong with bacon)! This large bacon sign was such a great idea for me to come up with because I have one hanging above my stove. It can even be used as a tray for Brunch if you keep it maintained with mineral oil and handwash only.
